Obituary of Rocco F. Vacca

Rocco Frank Vacca - On December 25, 2016, Rocco 'Rocky' Frank Vacca of Poughkeepsie, NY passed through death to life. He was born on November 24, 1925 in Poughkeepsie to Mary Carmela Ciancio and Nunzio Vacca. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1944. After Graduation he enlisted in the US Army July 22,1946 and served during WWII and Korean War. He later attended and graduated with a Bachelors Degree at Bard College in 1952. He married Rosemarie Ann Becchetti on September 10, 1950 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. He was a life long resident of Poughkeepsie. Past President of the Dutchess County Young Republican Club, ran for public office, was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Parish in Poughkeepsie and sang in the choir under the direction of his wife Rosemarie. He was a Lifetime Member of BPOE Elks Lodge 275 and former member of the Italian Center both of Poughkeepsie. As part of his professional career he worked from 1961-79 as General Manager of Allstates Design and Development in Poughkeepsie. He later worked as Vice President of Operations for TAD Technical Services in Hopewell Junction from 1980-91. He is pre-deceased by his brother Savario Vacca. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie of Poughkeepsie who resides at home, his son Richard Frank Vacca and daughter in-law Diana Chirico-Vacca of Hyde Park, his son John Rocco Vacca of Poughkeepsie, his son Robert Francis Vacca and Daughter in-law Patti Wilkins-Vacca of Poughkeepsie, and his youngest son and primary caregiver Anthony Becchetti Vacca who also resides at home. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Janine Garrison and Shannon Vacca, Great Grandchildren, Nunzio and Mateo Garrison, all of Poughkeepsie. He is also survived by his sister Nell and her husband James McGlone of Libertyville, IL., his nephew Nicholas Drakides of Manhattan and His niece Eileen Rose of Highland Park, Il. Rocco's family would like to thank his many caregivers. Visitation will be 4-8pm, December 29, 2016 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Friday, December 30 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will be immediately following at St. Peter's Cemetery.
