Obituary of Barbara L Anesi

Barbara I. Logan Anesi, age 87, of Lagrange, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at home in Lagrange, New York surrounded by family. Barbara was born December 26, 1929 in Ossining, NY. She is the daughter of the late John T. and Isabella (Morrow) Logan. She graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1947 and attended New York University in Manhattan, NY. She studied voice under the direction of Katherine Moran Douglas and performed as a soprano soloist for many years at St Mary's Episcopal Church in Scarborough-on-Hudson, NY and throughout Westchester, NY. She married P. William “Bill” Anesi on June 25, 1955 at St Mary's Episcopal Church in Scarborough-on-Hudson, NY. The couple and their young family moved to Dutchess County in 1965, having previously resided in Verona, NJ. Barbara was an accomplished soprano soloist, who appeared on the Original Ted Mack Amateur Hour in the early 1950’s. She also performed for many Red Cross events in support of our military veterans. She was a member of and sang in Church Choirs at Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls, St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Poughkeepsie, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pleasant Valley. She was active in local chorale groups for many years including performances with County Players in Wappingers Falls, NY. She was a tutor with Dutchess County Literacy Volunteers of America and active with the Association for Senior Citizens. In 1996, she was crowned “Mrs. Senior Dutchess County” in the inaugural pageant event held at the Poughkeepsie Galleria before a crowd of 800. She made several appearances during her reign including the United Way Kick-Off Breakfast and officially opening the 151st Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck, NY. She and her husband were members of Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, Staatsburg, NY and enjoyed many decades of boating on the Hudson River, Long Island Sound & Lake Champlain. She is survived by her husband: P. William “Bill” Anesi of Lagrange, NY, her two sons: Bruce W. Anesi, CFP® and his wife Carol Williams-Anesi of Wallingford, CT and Bradley John Anesi and his companion, Julia Vogelsang of Tuxedo, NY., her daughter and grandson: Beverly Jane Anesi-Rodriguez & Anthony Logan Rodriguez, of Attleboro, MA and her sister and brother-in-law: Jane & Richard O’Hara, of Mashpee, MA as well as numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. Visitation with the family will be held at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie NY on Friday, January 6, 2017, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM. Reverend Dr. Paul B. Clayton, Jr. will officiate the memorial service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
