Obituary of Jane Fanelli
TOWN OF HYDE PARK Joan P. Fanelli, 87, passed away on November 18, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by her family. Joan was born on February 23, 1930 in Beacon, NY to Grace (DiAntonio) and James Louis Martin. She graduated from St. Peter’s and Poughkeepsie High School, class of ’48. She married Salvatore J. Fanelli on June 4, 1950. Joan worked for the Wallace Company as a head cashier in the Credit Office for many years. She was then employed by the Poughkeepsie Medical Group as a medical assistant for Drs. Glenn Gerber and Stephen Rheingold for over twenty years until she retired.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore J. Fanelli, and her siblings Doris Seal, Carol Boss, Francis Martin, and Jerry Martin. She is survived by her two daughters, Rose Shapiro and husband, Brion, of Poughkeepsie and Diana Dickinson, of Ridgefield, CT. Grandchildren, Joshua Shapiro, Courtney Mukamuri and husband, Shalom, and Tyler Dickinson. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Roeper, of Sharon Springs, NY, sister-in-law Carmella Fanelli Quattrociocchi of Pleasant Valley and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 21 at the Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel – St. Peter’s, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 on Wednesday, November 22. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
