Obituary of George E. Meddaugh Sr.

On Friday April 6, 2018 George E Meddaugh Sr passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was 91, born on April 26, 1926 in Pleasant Valley, New York to the late Erven E Meddaugh and Gladys Meddaugh (Haight). George was a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor as a vehicle maintenance mechanic. George retired from Arlington Central School District as a senior bus mechanic.

George enjoyed his family, fishing, cooking, gardening, soaking up the sun, reading his bible and praying to Jesus.

George and his wife Audrey enjoyed many years at their upstate home on Pecks lake where they enjoyed family and friends. He enjoyed raising his six children on his farm.

George was predeceased by his lovely wife Audrey E Meddaugh (Carlson) and his daughters Sandra Meddaugh and Nancy Fells, and his Great Granddaughter Carleigh McCaw, also his beloved and faithful toy poodle companion “Bella”. George was also predeceased by his two sisters whom he loved dearly, Jocelyn Lattin and Charlotte Seymour.

George leaves behind his oldest daughter Gail Jacobs and her husband Bruce of Murrells Inlet, SC. Daughter Gigi Lundewall of Pleasant Valley, NY. Son George Meddaugh Jr. and his wife Renee of Poughkeepsie, NY. Daughter Georgine Bishko and her husband John of Poughquag, NY. And his adopted son James Selby and his wife Debbie of Poughkeepsie, NY.

George also leaves behind 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grand Children and several very special nieces and nephews, two sisters in law and some very dear friends. Our gratitude goes out to the wonderful and kind aides that took such good care of him during his final year.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 12:00 noon with a luncheon to follow in celebration of his blessed life at the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church, 1168 State Route 55, LaGrangeville, NY.
