Bill was born on March. 08, 1940 in New York City. He moved to Dutchess County in the 40’s and in the 50’s, he moved to the greater Poughkeepsie area where he remained until the time of his death.
Through the years, Bill held numerous jobs, including, but not limited to; porter maintenance, working at a gas station where he was responsible for car washing and pumping gas. He even worked on a farm with their maintenance team as well as Marist and Bard Colleges.
In the 60’s, Bill found himself visiting many of the different firehouses in Poughkeepsie where he enjoyed the camaraderie of the department employees. This affiliation lasted more than SIX decades. Bill was also welcome at the LaGrange and Fairview fire departments. Anyone who knew Bill, knew he always had a fire pager on his side to listen to fire calls.
Bill enjoyed the annual Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck and being around the farm animals. He would plan for the fair weeks in advance, often staying on the fairgrounds for the duration of the fair.
The highlight of every year was taking a much-deserved vacation. Bill traveled to Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island; some states multiple times over the years.
Bill is survived by the many friends he met over the years; most of whom he considered family. Bill had a special bond with the Zambraski and Bourbeau families.
