Tony Jarrett

Tony Terrence Roach-Jarrett, 65, of (Poughkeepsie, NY), departed this life Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NY after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

 

Tony was born on November 21, 1957 to John Joseph Roach (deceased) and Lillian Beatrice Gibbons in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Tony attended St. Margaret’s Primary School in Belmont Port of Spain and St. Andrews High School in San Juan, Trinidad.  After migrating to the United States, he continued his education and graduated from Dutchess County BOCES in Poughkeepsie with certificates in Air conditioning and refrigeration, Electrical, and Carpentry.  Tony was employed at Victory Lake Nursing Home (Hyde Park, NY) in plant operations for 40 years.  Tony was a 

volunteer soccer coach with the Town of Poughkeepsie and involved in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  He was also the proud owner and operator of T&J Painting.

 

Tony is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 40 years, Janine Jarrett (Klump), his mother, Lillian B. Gibbons, his son, Tony T. Jarrett Jr. and his daughter, Christian R. Jones all of Poughkeepsie, NY.

 

Tony is also survived by his sisters, Marcia Roach Armstrong (Latham,NY), Arlene Roach Selman (Poughkeepsie, NY), Yolande Roach Dennis (Port Saint Lucie, FL), Rhonda Roach Jarrett (Poughkeepsie,NY), Willhelmina Roach (England) and his brother, Gerald Skirritt (Canada). His sister, Josephine Willhemina Roach predeceased him. 

 

Tony loved and adored his grandchildren-Mekhi, Amaya, Jaslene, Jaylen, Cephas, and Carsyn. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

 

Tony fought bravely and tirelessly until the very end. He was passionate about music. His love of life and devotion to his family was an inspiration to us all. 

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Trinity Temple Church of Seventh-day Adventist, 14 South Bridge Street Poughkeepsie NY 12601. Funeral service begins at 11:00 am, Pastor Marty Vargas and Elder Owen A. Dennis, officiating. Burial will follow at The Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery 342 South Avenue.  Arrangements are by Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
