Obituary of Peter Jankovitz

Peter G. Jankovitz, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Poughkeepsie on June 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Pataki Jankovitz and he was a 1941 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. Peter served in the Navy during WWII and Korea. On April 11, 1948 Peter married Dorothy Maria Kowalski and she predeceased him on July 22, 2012. Peter had worked as an engineer for IBM in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church for many years, serving as usher and was a member of the Polish American Club. Peter is survived by his children; son and daughter-in-law Peter and Nancy Jankovitz of Poughkeepsie, son and daughter-in-law Paul and Joanne Jankovitz of Kingston, NY and his daughter Susan Martel and companion Louie deOlde of New Paltz, NY. Also surviving are his grandchildren Barbara (David) Webster, Larissa (Stephen) Inglis, Tara Jankovitz, Kaitlyn Jankovitz and Lindsay Jankovitz and Seth Martel and Laura Martel, as well as his great-grandchildren Justin Jankovitz, Joseph Webster, Jillian Hennessey, Jacob Webster , Jeremy Webster, Joshua Webster, and Brady Inglis and his two sisters Margaret Kara and Helen Jankovitz both of Poughkeepsie. There are no calling hours. Peter was cremated per his wishes.
