Obituary of Jane H Sheftic

Jane H. (Howard) Sheftic, 90, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  A lifelong resident, Jane was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on September 10, 1927 to the late G. Erving and Minnie Kuhn Howard.  She was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 45.  On June 27, 1959 Jane married Michael Sheftic at Holy Trinity Church and he predeceased her on April 7, 2009.  She recently celebrated her 90th Birthday given by her children and surrounded by family and friends.  Jane was a life parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and she enjoyed bingo, reading, knitting and jumble puzzles.  Jane is survived by her son Michael P. Sheftic, Jr., of Poughkeepsie, son Thomas G. Sheftic and his girlfriend Cindy Tarr of New Hamburg and her daughter and son-in-law Ann Marie and Edward Coffey of Newburgh.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Nicole McPhee, Shaun Sheftic and Kaleigh Sheftic; her great-grandchild Joshua McPhee and her two sisters Marion Bon of Milton, DE and Betty Thurst of Millbrook.  In addition to her husband, Jane was predeceased by her brother Edward Howard.  The Family would like to thank the staff at Avalon for the excellent care given to Jane and all of her family for their care.  Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 4 - 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Martin de Porres Church with burial at St. Peter's Cemetery.  For directions or to send online condolences, please visit our website at www.doylefuneralhome.com
