Obituary of Mary Eagan

Mary Catherine Eagan departed from this life on May 20, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary was born June 15, 1952 to Frank and Ruth Carlon in Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated in 1970 from Arlington High School. After working as an administrative assistant for 25 years, Mary found her calling as a highway inspector, taking after her grandfather, Francis Carlon. Her specialties included blacktop, concrete, drainage and environmental restoration.

To all who knew her, Mary was a dynamic and charismatic soul. She loved living life to the fullest and could light up a room. She was passionate about many things, but she especially loved restoring her historical home, as well as interior design and decoration. To her husband, she was the love of his life. Together they were active community members in the Village of Wappingers Falls. Mary was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Hamburg Yacht Club and member of the board for Hudson River Boat and Yacht Club Association. Mary and Vince enjoyed a rich social life and peaceful home. Mary especially loved the beauty of the natural world, and spent many hours surveying birds and other wildlife from her front porch, often in the company of loved ones.

Mary is survived by her husband Vince Eagan, her children, Jessica Sandford and spouse Dane Summers, Peter Eric Sandford, her grandchildren, Olivia and Peter Matthew Sandford, her siblings Frank Carlon, Thomas Carlon and wife Colleen Carlon, Katherine (Carlon) Frishmuth and husband Ron Frishmuth, as well as aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Germany, all whom she loved dearly.

A private family service will be held at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 12pm-2pm. A reception will be held afterward at 5pm at Mary & Vince’s home 120 Market St., Wappingers Falls, NY open to all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice.
