Obituary of Jack Norman Feldborg

Jack Norman Feldborg, 82, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Jack was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 11, 1936 to the late Jens Ingvard and Ebba Christine Schotz Feldborg. He married the former Elenore Catherine Lorenz on January 5, 1963 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She predeceased him on November 10, 1992.

Jack served in the United States Coast Guard and retired from IBM in April, 1993 after 30 years.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church in Poughkeepsie, NY and was a member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club. Jack was a McArthur Award recipient of the Boy Scouts, 4H volunteer, received the Boy Scouts Wood Badge, American Cancer Society Volunteer of the Year and enjoyed racing and cruising, he also loved Using his skills as a woodworker, he refurbished furniture for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. He was involved in many different aspects of life at St. John’s Lutheran Church, including coordinating the confirmation program and serving on the property and audit committees.

Jack is survived by Daughter Jacqueline Emslie and husband Scott of Poughkeepsie, Son Eric Feldborg and companion Noel Schroeder of Fremont New Hampshire, Brother in law and Sister in law William and Evelyn Nasworthy of Longwood Florida, Brother in law and sister in law Eugene and Johnnie Lorenz of Macon Georgia, Sister in law Lynn Feldborg of Camden Maine, Several beloved nieces, nephews and countless dear friends

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Richard Feldborg.

Calling hours are to be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral Services are to be on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 10:00am at St. John's Evangelical Church, 55 Wilbur Boulevard, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will be at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.                                                                           .

The family would like to thank the staff at the Pines, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Mid Hudson Regional Hospital, Hyde Park Assisted Living, Lutheran Care Center and Hospice for their care and support of Jack in the last few months of his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Habitat for Humanity's ReStore on Route 44 in Poughkeepsie or St. John's Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie.
