Obituary of Frank Joseph Alfano

Frank J. Alfano, of Poughkeepsie, New York died at Vassar Brothers Hospital on April 1, 2020. 
 
Frank was born in the Bronx on May 17, 1935.  He was the son of the late Rocco and Lucy Alfano.  On May 24, 1958, Frank married the love of his life, Jacqueline Anderson who survives at home in Poughkeepsie.  He is also survived by his son Frank Alfano of Poughkeepsie and his daughter, Cathy Pippa and her husband Greg Pippa of Wappingers Falls.  He was blessed with a granddaughter, Victoria Pippa, who was his pride and joy. 
 
Frank was retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation and also worked as a butcher. He was  a member of the Army National Guard for 13 years. Frank loved to sing and was a member of the Golden Age Singers where he would entertain many.  He enjoyed helping out in his role as Santa Claus where he would put a smile on the faces of many children.  He enjoyed watching his granddaughter play softball and following his favorite sports teams.
 
He will be remembered for being devoted to his family, willing to help others in need, and his unfailing work ethic.
 
Due to the underlying circumstances, services at this time will be private.  There will be a celebration of Frank's life at a later date. 
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff in the ICU at Vassar Brothers Hospital, the Veteran's Administration, and April Blue for their dedication and care of Frank.
