Obituary of Charlotte L. Shanagher

Charlotte L. Shanagher, 52 of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Hyde Park, NY. She was born on November 13, 1968 in Laramie, WY to Charles and Charlotte D. Sands. Charlotte married Peter Shanagher on March 6, 2013 in Wappinger Falls, NY who survives at home. Charlotte was a previous resident of Leeds, NY, Plattsburgh, NY and a local resident of Poughkeepsie since 2012. She graduated with a AAS in Nursing from Clinton Community College. She loved helping others. Charlotte was employed as an RN with Champlain Valley Medical Center, the company White Gloves, and previously at the Pines in Poughkeepsie. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, music, reading, her pets and sharing a laugh. In her younger years Charlotte loved to dance in all of its forms. In addition to her husband Peter, Charlotte is survived by her son Michael Close of Plattsburgh, NY, daughter Sarah Close of Wilmington, NC, stepdaughter Sandye Rodriguez of Mesa, AR, sisters Shelley Sands of Casper, WY, Annie Sands of Idaho Springs, CO and niece Brianna Dupre, nephew Ebin McLaughlin and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. A memorial gathering celebrating Charlotte’s life will be held at the Masonic Temple at 19 Russell St Saugerties, NY on August 14, 2021 between 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
