Obituary of Elizabeth Ann VanTassell

Elizabeth Ann VanTassell, 77, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A lifelong resident, Betty was born in Poughkeepsie on July 10, 1944 to the late Ralph and Mary C. Dzielski Smith. On August 31, 1963 she married Francis G. "Bucky" VanTassell in Hyde Park and he predeceased her on September 29, 2007. Betty loved to watch her soap operas and game shows. She loved all music and coloring and attending to her house plants. Most importantly being with her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her children; daughter Sharon VanTassell of Poughkeepsie, daughter and son-in-law Christine and Victor Garcia of Brewster, son Michael J. VanTassell of Hyde Park and son Lance C. VanTassell of Poughkeepsie. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren; LaShonda Blue, Jonathon, Travis and Christopher Garcia, Summer Juliano, Joshua, Nickolas and Connor VanTassell, great-grandchildren Kaleb and Chloe Leeper, as well as her brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Marge Smith of Highland. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her daughter Dawn VanTassell and her sisters Frances Kolbars, Helen Garnot and Mary Phillips. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 10:00am in the funeral home with burial at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum.
