Obituary of Donald R. Diehl

Donald Robert Diehl passed peacefully on February 9, attended by his family.  Don was born on May 24, 1933 to Edna and William Diehl.  He and his younger sister Joyce grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY.  Don was a graduate of Arlington High School, and he served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957.  Don worked for the New York State Department of Transportation as an engineer for over 37 years.  He enjoyed his career, working on various construction projects throughout the Hudson Valley.  He enjoyed life and was especially fond of playing golf with his wife, Elaine. He took great pride in his family, and often remarked that he and Elaine were fortunate to live in the best of times.

 

Don is survived by his sister Joyce Diehl (Colonel, USAF, retired), and his wife of sixty-three years, Elaine; their three children Dawn Meyer (William Meyer), Jeffrey Diehl (Carol Diehl) and William Diehl (Grace Diehl); six grandchildren Kelly (Julio), Alexandra, Douglas, Megan, William and Mary, and one great-grandchild, Benjamin.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30am on Tuesday February 14, 2023 at Holy Trinity Church 775 Main Street Poughkeepsie, New York 12603

Burial will be held at a later date.

 

Funeral services are being handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603
