Margaret Swanno

Obituary of Margaret E. Swanno

On Saturday evening April 8th Margaret E Swanno of Lagrange, NY passed suddenly
and is now at home with her lord and savior. She was born on 11/30/1940 in Queens,
NY to Ralph and Angela Fiore. Margaret (Margie) was filled with endless love for her
family, friends and anyone she encountered. She is survived by her husband, Raymond
(Ray), daughter Deneen (Mark) Jackson, son Ralph Swanno, his fiance Kimberly Shea
and her grand children Alexis Brinkman and Heavenly Shea.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, she met the love of her life Ray in 1959, they
married on June 9th, 1962 and enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage. Ray was a musician
and first laid eyes on Margie at a social club in Brooklyn, it was love at first sight and he
pursued her until she agreed to go on their first date to his college senior ball. The rest is
history as they were inseparable for the remainder of their time together.
Margie was a devout member of the Faith Assembly of God in Poughkeepsie, NY. She
and Ray were baptized there on their 40th wedding anniversary.
Margie, touched the lives of hundreds of children while operating her day care; Babes
in Toyland for 30+ years, building a foundation based on love, respect for others and
early education. She reluctantly retired in January of this year.
Margie's home was her lifes work, transforming the lower half of her house into a
fabulous daycare facility with a beautiful outdoor play area and all the amenities a young
child could ask for. She loved her business, it wasn't about watching children it was
about laying the ground work for them to grow into smart, caring, motivated human
beings. Many of her clients kept in touch with Margie long after leaving her care. She
attended bar & bat mitzvahs, confirmations, graduations and weddings for some of
them, a testimonial to how much she was loved and touched each of them personally.
In all Margie devoted 46 years of her life to loving, nurturing and caring for children.
