Obituary of Colleen VanTassell

Colleen B. Van Tassell, 67, of Pleasant Valley, NY died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie on November 24, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Philip and Theresa Francese Splain. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, NY. Colleen married Francis A. "Bumpsie" Van Tassell on November 30, 1963 at St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie and he survives her at home. She had bowled on various leagues for over 20 years and her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a big part of her life. She had worked as a bus driver for Arlington Central Schools, was a past employee of the Poughkeepsie Journal and was owner of B Best Oil Company. In addition to her husband who survives at home, Colleen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Todd Pectle of Hyde Park and her daughter and fiancé Stacey Van Tassell and Henry Heinson. Also surviving are her grandchildren Phillip and Jacob Pectle, Ann Marie Van Tassell and Anthony, Adam, Ashton and Austin Van Tassell, her great-grandchildren Emma Rose Hughes and her sister and brother in-law Louise and Elwood Thorn of Poughkeepsie, NY. Colleen was predeceased by her son Phillip Van Tassell in April, 1993, her sister Laureen Higgins and her brother George Splain. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2:00 - 5:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
