Obituary of Francis Devine

Francis J. "Jimmy" Devine, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 25, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Joan Devine. Jimmy was a local resident since 1964 and previously lived in Port Dickinson New York. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Judy Watts-Devine, and their children Jeffrey A. Devine, Patrick J. Devine, Francis Watts and his wife Ruth and Alysia Whitmarsh and her husband Brian. Jimmy is further survived by his sister Kathleen Devine Musholt and her husband Daniel, his brother Gregory P. Devine and his wife Judi, his grandchildren Austin, Devin and Jason Watts and Aidan Whitmarsh, two nieces Laura Musholt and Dominique Devine and two nephews Gregory A. and Frankie Devine. Jimmy was a Graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and also a graduate of Mercy College in Yorktowne Heights. Jimmy proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded two silver stars and one bronze star. He was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elk's Lodge #275 and the VFW Post 170. Jimmy's greatest joy in life was spending time with his adoring wife Judy and their grandchildren. Jimmy was an avid NY Yankees - NY Giants fan and NASCAR fan and enjoyed making his annual Yankee Stadium trip with his grandchildren, working on computers and fishing. Jimmy was truly a unique person and will never be forgotten. Jimmy worked for the City of Poughkeepsie in the computer department retiring April 30, 2011. A graveside service with Military Honors will be help 11am Saturday December 1, 2012 at St. Peter's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12603. The family ask that memorial donations be made to, the Arlington Rescue Squad 11 Burnett Blvd. Poughkeepsie New York 12603.
