Obituary of Robert L. Rathbun

Robert L. Rathbun, age 62, of Cape Coral, FLA, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Gulf Coast Hospital. Bob was born October 2, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Robert W. and the late Margaret (Lawrence) Rathbun. He married Joanne DiLeo on February 26, 1983 in Poughkeepsie, New York., Joanne survives in LaGrange, New York. He was a retired employee of IBM Poughkeepsie as a Import Analyzer. Bob was a local resident most of his life, moving to Cape Coral Florida in 2005. Bob graduated from Arlington High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. During Bob's involvement in sports he was invited to play softball in the PAN AM Olympic Games. He bowled in many bowling leagues and he had bowled two perfect games. Bob played in the Major League Fast Pitch Softball League for the Brewers and was inducted into the NYS Softball Hall of Fame and also into the Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame. He is survived by his son: Robert J. Rathbun of Hartford, CT; Sister and Brother In-law, Mary Anne and Dennis Cahill of Salt Point, NY; Sister and Brother In-law, Jean And James Nemes of Stanfordville, NY; Sister and Brother In-law, Peggy and Kevin Russell of Rhinebeck, NY. Calling hours will be held Monday December 3, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York. 12603 The funeral will be held 10am on Tuesday December 4, 2012 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie New York. .
