Obituary of Keith Robbins

Keith Robbins, 75, a long-time resident of Wappingers Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Walden, New York, on December 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Clyde and Vida VanKleeck Robbins. Keith graduated from Margaretville High School. He was a very hard working man as a truck driver and mechanic most of his life, being employed by Ketcham Motors in Fishkill, Mid-Hudson Moving and Storage in Wappingers Falls, and Global Van Lines. Keith was also a night driver and paramedic for Sloper-Willen Ambulance Company. On December 28, 1978, he married Jacqueline Robbins, in Wappingers Falls. Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his many friends. He loved his family, especially spending summers playing in the pool with his grandchildren. He was a member of the United States Armed Forces during non-combat times, serving his country bravely. He was an assistant and head coach of the Wappingers Little League for a number of years. Keith served as Captain of the W.T. Gardner Fire Department, Engine Company #1, in Wappingers Falls and is a 25 year life member. Predeceasing him in addition to his parents are his brothers: Richard, of Nevada, and Merritt (Butch) of New York; and a sister, Janet Mattingly, of Florida. Keith is survived by his brother Lester, of Sorrento, Florida. In addition to his loving wife, Jackie, he is also survived by his eight children. Sons: Marty, wife Kathy, and son Shawn, of Hyde Park; Kevin, and his sons Kevin Ross, with his family, and Kyle, of Virginia; Richard, wife Rose, and daughter, Dawn, with her family, of Washington; Robert Haass, his sons Robby and Ryan of Chicago, Illinois; William and his sons, David and Matthew of Wappingers Falls; James, wife Kate, children Delaney, Paige and Gabriel of Poughkeepsie; and daughters, Debbie Wilson of Kerhonkson, her daughters Nicole Howell and her family, of Hawaii, and Jodi Wilson of Kerhonkson; Mary Pitkin, husband Jeremiah, and daughter Madison, of Marlboro. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home on 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603, from 5pm-8pm.
