Obituary of Gordon Bennett

Gordon Bennett, age 83, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center of Poughkeepsie, NY. Gordan was born August 21, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late James Gordon and the late Jessie (Cotrell) Bennett. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war. He retired from Dutchess County Public Works Department as a Supervisor retiring in 1995. Gordan was a member of American Legion Post 1302, was a member of the Arlington Honor Guard, Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge 275 and the Manchester Gun Club. He was a avid Sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. Gordon was predeceased in life by his wife Josephine Giangrasso. He is survived by ; Daughter And Son In-law, Sandy And Pete Lasko of the Town of Poughkeepsie and close family friends, Robert, Tracy, Linda, Kimberly and Ryan Sofka of the Town of Poughkeepsie. Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 29, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. The funeral will be held 11am Thursday May 30, 2013 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY with officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
