Obituary of John Gallogly

John (Jack) Gallogly 67, a resident of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Brooklyn, died on Saturday, September 7th, 2013. Born in County Down Ireland on April 24, 1946. He was the son of the late Andrew and Brigid (McConville) Gallogly. Jack received his BSN from Lehman College, Bronx, New York. Jack cared for the elderly patients as an RN for many years and served his patients with love, respect, and dignity. He was proud of his profession and until the day he stopped working, he spoke very highly of each patient in his care. Jack served in the United States Army from January 1968 through February 1970, when he was honorably discharged. He is survived by his wife, Melanie (Gallo) Gallogly and his stepchildren, Meredith Stanton Calos and her husband Andrew, of Myrtle Beach, SC., John Stanton of Boston, MA., sister in-law Marlene Gallo and her partner Donna Catt, sister in-law Mary Teicholz and her husband Lee, nephews Michael, James, and Mark Winkelman and their spouses, William Teicholz, and many beloved friends who will greatly miss his dry Irish humor. He was "Papa" to Tiara, Nevaeh, and Zyah Rennie. Friends and family will be received at Jack and Melanie's home on Monday evening from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Domestic Violence Services of Dutchess County, Wounded Warrior Project or the American Heart Association.
