Obituary of Margaret Russell

Margaret Mary Russell, 84, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Thursday, October 17th, after a long illness. Margaret was born in Poughkeepsie to Edward and Beatrice Lucas. She attended Poughkeepsie city schools and the Krissler Business Institute. She was employed for many years at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank. In 1951, Margaret married Merle H. Russell. They were married 57 years until Merle's death in 2008. Together they raised four children: Diane (John Radtke), New Bern, NC; Gary (Maryann), Staatsburg; Brian, Poughkeepsie; and Douglas (Natasha), Poughkeepsie. Margaret is also the dear grandmother of Brandon and Ryan, Troy; Ashley (Sean Gottschalk), Wappinger Falls; Gina, Manhattan; and Laura, Staatsburg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Margaret loved to collect recipes, travel, read biographies, decorate her home, and host family get-togethers. Her greatest joy was to celebrate Christmas with all her family in her home. Margaret had a generous heart to all her loved ones and dear friends. Funeral services are private; internment will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
