Obituary of Francis Minogue

Francis X. Minogue, the old soldier, finished the long march home on January 1, 2014. Frank, the son of Michael J. and Theresa V. Minogue, was born on December 28, 1915 in Manhattan. He was baptized and served as a choir boy at the Good Sheppard Parish in the Bronx, where he was raised. All of his seven brothers and sisters predeceased him. Frank proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army/Field Artillery. He trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He then fought in the European Campaign in North Africa; at Algeria-French Morocco; in Italy in the North Appenines, Po Valley, and Rome. Frank was decorated, and received the Bronze Star. He married Olga (Hawie) Minogue in January 1943 while on furlough. Olga predeceased Frank in 2006. Frank and Olga eventually settled in Poughkeepsie, NY. Frank is survived by son Robert and wife Mary Marlowe of Columbia, SC; daughter Louise and husband P. Christopher Frances of Loudonville, NY; son Michael and wife Karen Minogue of Highland, NY; and granddaughter Lisa Minogue and her boyfriend Mark Papo of Beacon, NY; along with many nieces and nephews. Frank had a long career in the men's clothing field, having worked for Howard, Bonds, Ripley's Clothes, and locally at Barron's. Frank always made it clear, he was proud to be an American. The family would like to thank Arlington Ambulance Service, Vassar Brothers Medical Center third-floor staff, the entire staff at Julie's Restaurant and Alex's Restaurant for providing Frank with great meals over the last few years; and to John Souza (his barber) of the Male Ego for stopping by Frank's home to cut his hair over the last few years. Thank you. Memorial donations may be made to one's local Salvation Army in Frank's memory.
