Obituary of Julian Epstein

Julian Epstein lived his life on his own terms. If ever there was someone who successfully blended together completely different slices it was Eppe. A Hunter, a fisherman, a music lover, a cowboy, a partner, a father, a grandfather to name a few roles he played in his life. Born on April 30, 1941 at Vassar hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY to Jane Burr and Louis Epstein. Eppe lived his life in Dutchess county. He was proud to say he was a book binder for Western Printing. He served in the United States Air force stationed in Hawaii. He was bar mitzvahed at Temple Beth El in Poughkeepsie. Co-owner of Record Land in the City of Poughkeepsie. Eppe used to read the obituaries regularly. If he could read his own I would want him to know some things. He made a difference in this world. He wasn't just a cog in the machine. He taught me to not roll over when life was trying to steamroll you. Eppe never actually said words of wisdom. He silently led me. He silently led himself. I cannot recall one instance in which he raised his voice to get his point across. He taught me to fish and shoot clay pigeons. He taught my brother to hunt for deer. He taught my sister silent patience. He taught me to follow who I love. A truly intelligent man he never made you feel small. He is survived by his children, Vanessa, Adam and Stephanie. His grandchildren, his partner and countless loved ones and family. Calling hours will be Thursday at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
