Obituary of Concetta E. Smythe-Scarlett

Concetta was born on November 9, 1946 in New York, NY to the late Vincent and Muriel (Nicholson) Smythe. She received her heavenly wings on December 22, 2016, surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter, at Delray Medical Center in Del Ray Beach, FL, after a brief illness. The family migrated to Dutchess County in 1958. She spent her teenage years in the Poughkeepsie/Lagrange areas. Elena, as she was known to her friends, worked in the Brooklyn District Attorney's office. She retired from that office in 2008. Elena leaves to mourn her loss her 3 brothers Howard Smythe, NJ, Ricardo Smythe, NV, Cortez Smythe, NY, 1 sister Shirley Cruz, FL, 2 daughters Vanessa Scarlett, SC , Lissa Scarlett, NY and Dijon her baby girl (FL). 6 Grandchildren; Conchetta Keith, Jaonta Scarlett, Tionna Scarlett, Daquan Scarlett, Christopher Davis, Jeffrey Scarlett and 4 Great-Grandchildren Freeston Paul, Isaac Hunter, Samuel Hunter and Kaylani Davis, as well as a special Aunt, Virginia Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by both parents, brothers Vincent and Marco Smythe, son Christopher Smythe and a special family member Minerva (Grandma) Hopkins. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12:00 - 2:00pm, with services to follow at 2:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
