Obituary of Elaine Diehl

Elaine Kathryn Diehl passed into eternal life on December 18.  Elaine was born to Richard and Elizabeth Rohrer on January 26, 1941.  She was married to Donald Diehl on July 9, 1960, and they spent sixty-three years together.  Everyone who knew them was touched by the beautiful marriage they shared together.

Elaine was a faithful communicate at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.  Elaine lived out the greatest commandment, and loved God with all her heart, her mind, her soul, and her strength.  She also loved her neighbor as herself.  For Elaine, this was not an obligation, it was simply who she was.  She loved being around people and made new friends wherever she went, whether going for a walk on the beach or passing through an airport terminal.  Elaine was a deeply humble person and probably never realized what a tremendous witness she was.  We all felt that she left us too early, but we take comfort in the fact that God’s timing is perfect, and Elaine’s love and prayers will follow us from heaven.

Elaine is survived by her brother Dennis; her three children Dawn Meyer (William Meyer), Jeffrey Diehl (Carol Diehl) and William Diehl (Grace Diehl); six grandchildren Kelly (Julio), Alexandra, Douglas, Megan, William and Mary, and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Gabriel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Elaine at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 26 at 10:00 am.  Internment will be on a future date, yet to be determined.
