Obituary of Barbara DiFronzo

Barbara A. DiFronzo, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away, peacefully, at home, on Monday, January 8, 2024, with her children, Matthew McPhilomy and Courtney McPhilomy Roe, at her side.

She was born February 21, 1946, in Waterbury, CT, to the late Orlando and Anna (Giordano) DiFronzo. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. She held fond memories of her time there with the nuns. She graduated from Crosby High School in 1964. In 1965, she was a member of the first graduating class of the LPN Program at Warren F. Kaynor Regional Technical School and St. Mary’s Hospital, where she later worked. Throughout her career she also worked in nursing homes and home care.

Her greatest joy in life- after raising her own children- was becoming a grandmother.  “Nana’s” pure love has given her grandchildren many memories to cherish. Throughout her life she enjoyed vacationing in Cape Cod; spending time with her family, and spending time with her sister going to the shore and shopping. She will always be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and caring heart.

She is survived by her son and daughter, her stepchildren, Miche McPhilomy, James McPhilomy Sr., Kathryn McPhilomy, and Dawn Beattie; her twin sister Anna Marie (Edward) DiVirgilio, sister in law Josephine DiFronzo, grandchildren Taylor and Austin McPhilomy, and Emily, Abbie and Lexi Roe, several step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Orlando DiFronzo.

Barbara enjoyed listening to music, especially Kenny Rogers.

“Through the years, you've never let me down.

You turned my life around.

The sweetest days I've found, I've found with you.”
