Obituary of Barbara Benedict

Barbara Benedict, age 83, of Poughkeepsie New York died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at home in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Benedict was born September 4, 1927 in Poughkeepsie, NY the daughter of the late Ralph and the late Ruth (Baker) Gibson. On March 31, 1946 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church she married Francis A. Benedict; he predeceased her January 11, 2010. Barbara was very involved with the Church. She also bowled on the Hyde Park Mixers She was previously employed by Town Of Poughkeepsie as a Clerk in the Tax Department. Mrs. Benedict was also a member of Town of Poughkeepsie Seniors She is survived by, her daughter And son in-law, Sharyn And James Burke of Leesburg, FL; Son And Daughter In-law, Keith And Candace Benedict of Rhinebeck, NY; Son And Daughter In-law, Jeffrey And Cheryl Benedict of Poughkeepsie, NY. Barbara is also survived by her Grandchildren and their spouses, Shawn and Stephyne Burke, Ryan Burke, Shane and Linda Benedict, Wesley and Heather Benedict, Troy and Teal Benedict, Morgan Benedict and Kyle Benedict. Six Great Grandchildren and Several nieces and nephews also survive. Barbara was predeceased by a sister Gwendolyn Gibson LaMunyan and a brother George B. Gibson. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Mansion Street, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
