Obituary of Margaret Bunten

Margaret L. Bunten, 92, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died April 21, 2009 at Lutheran Care Center. She had been a supervisor at Marist College, retiring in 1981. A lifetime local resident, she was a member of the Shamrock Club and attended St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie. She loved her family, and loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Born Nov. 6, 1916 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of John Traugott Burgin and Mary Smyth. She graduated from St. Peter's Grade School and Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 1934. On Dec 16, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, she married Walter Charles Bunten. He predeceased her on Sept. 4, 1984. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Linda Bunten of Rockport, MA; daughters, Marge Beck of Nashua, NH and Mabel Mackey of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Hodos of Rochester, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Bunten of Hyde Park, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Laura Bunten of Takoma, MD; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Martin Terry of Rome, Italy; daughter, Shirley Bunten of Rochester, NY; sister, Patricia Cwik of Poughkeepsie, NY; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, William, George and John Burgin, a sister, Mary Wilcheck and two sons-in-law, Lawrence Mackey and Stephen LaRose. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 2-6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10am April 27, 2009 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Church, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Father James Garisto will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike.
