Obituary of Alyssa-jo Calio

Alyssa-Jo Calio, 45, Poughkeepsie, New York, ended her courageous battle against Leukemia, November 26, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center while surrounded by her friends and family. Lisa was born and raised in Poughkeepsie. She attended St. Martin DePorres School, Arlington High School, and Dutchess Community College. Lisa received her Bachelors in nursing from SUNY Utica and her Masters in Nursing Anethesist from Columbia University. Lisa is survived by her parents Joseph and Frances (Lis) Calio of Poughkeepsie, Sister of John Calio of New Orleans, Chuck and Marianne Calio of Poughkeepsie, NY and Bob and Diana Calio of Red Hook,NY. Lisa was a great Aunt to Niki, Heather, Joey, Mike, Elizabeth and Johnny Calio. She also is survived by her Great Niece Marie MacDougal. Lisa dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse and later as a nurse anesthesists at Vassar Hospital. She also enjoyed travel, cooking and especially baking for her close friends. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Monday, December 1, 1008 at 10:00am at St. Martin DePorres Church, Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family would very sincerely like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at North American Anestesia Partners and Vassar Hospital who took very good care of Lisa. You all made her and US very proud. Memorials may be made in Lisa's name to Blauvelt Dominican Sisters, 496 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913.
