Obituary of Marian Callo

Marian V. Callo, 87, of Town of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at home. She had worked at IBM, Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1984. She was a lifetime local resident, having also lived in Milton, NY. Mrs. Callo was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, IBM Retirees Association and the AARP of Rhinebeck. She was a past member of Highland Methodist Church and had been, most recently, a member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. She was a real great mom and a great grandmother. Born Dec. 29, 1921 in Milton, NY, she was the daughter of Raymond VanDemark and Anna May Rhoades. She attended Marlborough High School, graduating on June 21, 1937. On June 4, 1944 at St. James Church in Milton, NY, she married Michael Callo. He predeceased her on Oct. 25, 2000. Survivors include daughter and sonin-law, Sharon and Gerald Eagan of Poughkeepsie; son and daughter-inlaw, Michael and Sue Callo of Fishkill, NY; grandchildren, Gerald Eagan, Jr. and his wife, Christine Eagan of Plattsburg, NY, Neal Eagan of Poughkeepsie, Nicholas Eagan of Walkill, NY and Susan Callo of Fishkill, NY; great grandchildren, Caleb and Abigail Eagan of Plattsburg, NY; and sister, Joyce Palmateer of Highland, NY. She was predeceased by her sister, Ethel Hasbrouck and a brother, Howard VanDemark. Calling hours will be held from 37pm, Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral service will follow visitation at 7pm in the funeral home with Reverend Thompson Ghee officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Highland Cemetery, Highland, NY.
