Obituary of Helen Ciancio

Helen A. Ciancio, (90) passed away at her home October 25, 2011. She was born in the Bronx, New York and was a life long resident of Poughkeepsie. She was an Sales Associate with M. Shwartz & Company until her retirement. She was also a Rochdale Cub Scout Den Mother for many years, a member of the Poughkeepsie Women's Business Association, Home Extension Bureau, Rochdale Civic Center, Victory Lodge, Retirees of Western Publishing Company, Holy Trinity Women's Society, American Association of Retired Persons and a member of the Holy Trinity Church, Town of Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Ciancio is survived by her loving husband Jake Ciancio. She was pre-deceased by son Steven R, Ciancio Sr., in 2003, his wife Lorna of Clifton Park, N.Y. survives. Also pre-deceased by brother Nick Sassi. In addition to her husband, Mrs Ciancio is survived by son, Larry G. Ciancio, his wife Wanda of Novi, Michigan, sister Theresa Deichler of Easley, South Carolina. Also surviving are 8 Grandchildren: Brandon, Judson, David, Matthew, Michael, Lisa Renee Fogarty, Steven R. Jr., Heather Lynn Courtney and 8 Great Grandchildren, Amanda, Evan, Mia and Matthew Jr. Ciancio, Mason and Reese Courtney, Steven Ciancio III, Aiden Fogarty and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ciancio was Grandma to all her Grandchildren and Nana to her Great Grandchildren and the happiness they all brought to her... She was a devoted wife of 69 years and mother who placed family above all else and kept friends dear to her heart. Her sense of humor, infectious laugh and outlook on life were assets difficult to match. Her smile will be imbedded in stone. Visitation will be held Friday October 28, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:45am Saturday October 29, 2011 at Holy Trinity Church Poughkeepsie New York. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Putnam Valley, N.Y.
