Obituary of James Ciminera

James Ralph Ciminera, 78, a resident of Hyde Park, died December 18, 2009, at home. Mr. Ciminera was employed as an Electrical Engineer at the Research Lab in IBM Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force, Airman Third Class. Mr. Ciminera was a member of the IBM Amateur Radio Club, Call Number W2VXI. Born in North Hempstead, NY, on April 5, 1931, he was the son of Ralph and Mary Mason Ciminera. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Hofstra University. Survivors include his longtime companion of 17 years, Ruth (Ronnie) Hurd of Hyde Park; daughters, Donna C. Knapp and her husband, Bob, of Salt Point, NY; Pamela Ciminera and her companion, Melissa Jacoby, of Chesterfield, Mass.; Rene C. Lawton and her husband, Steve, of Flagstaff, AZ; stepdaughter, Thea Burgess and her husband, Jay, of Rhinebeck, NY; step-daughter, Wendy Gropper and her husband, Howard, of Pleasant Valley, NY; grandchildren, Michael and Brian Knapp; Tiana and Savannah Lawton; and Emily and Larry Gropper. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Ciminera. Visitation will be on December 27, 2009 from 2-4 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A memorial service will be held following visitation at the funeral home at 4 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
