Obituary of Grace Clark

On Friday, December 31, 2010 Grace M. Clark died at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was with members of her family. Grace was born in Ashville, NC on December 12, 1927 . She was the daughter of the late Mamie Jackson and the late Luther Jackson. She attended public school in Cedar Springs, SC. She was a very hardworking, compassionate and strong woman. Grace held various jobs during her lifetime. She worked and retired from Diana Stores located in North Bergen, NJ as a keypunch operator. Grace loved to spend time with her family and friends. She loved to cook, (especially bake), go fishing and have a good time. Grace had no children of her own, but raised her niece Tangy from a baby. She lovingly referred to Tangy as her daughter and was always there to support her in any way she could. Tangy likewise came to love her dearly and to understand that her strict ways were meant to protect and care for her. She will be eternally indebted to her for the love and care she gave. Prior to moving to Poughkeepsie from Evanston, Ill., Grace was an active member of Second Baptist Church. She became of member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY after her move. Also prior to moving to Poughkeepsie, Grace started to study the Bible with Tangy over the phone and continued these studies after moving to Poughkeepsie in 2007. Throughout her illness she drew comfort from her studies. She accepted God's Word as the only hope of salvation. She was thrilled and deeply touched when she learned of Jehovah's promise to raise the dead and provide a paradise home on earth for the majority of obedient mankind. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved niece/daughter Tangy Stith and her husband Derrick Stith of Poughkeepsie, NY ; her grandchildren Alonzo & Sitara Ward of Poughkeepsie, NY ; her god daughter Jessica Jones of Konasha, WI ; her sister Sarah Jackson of Poughkeepsie, NY ; her sister Della Aiken of Evanston, Ill. ; her sister Alice Randolph of Astoria, NY ; her brother Theodore B. Jackson of Chicago, Ill., and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her mother, Mamie Jackson ; her father, Luther Jackson ; two brothers, Luis Jackson and Samuel Jackson. Services will be held at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12603, on Saturday form 11am to 1pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
