Obituary of Alma Corcoran

Alma Elizabeth Corcoran, age 86, a resident at The Fountains at Millbrook and former resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on December 18, 2010, surrounded by her family. Born June 16, 1924 in Poughkeepsie, New York, she was the daughter of the late George Cronk and Elizabeth Urquhart Cronk. On March 17, 1946 she married John H. Corcoran at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie. John predeceased her on January 12, 1997. She is survived by their nine children: Carolyn C. Manca (Andrew), Poughkeepsie, Mary E. Lombardo (Anthony), West Chester, PA, John H. Corcoran,Jr., (Deborah), Louisburg, NC, Thomas A. Corcoran (Patricia), Brewster, NY, Nancy J. Graham (Stephen), West Stockbridge, MA, Leonard J.(Sandy) Corcoran, Poughkeepsie, Kathleen Corcoran, Lagrangeville, NY, Robert F. Corcoran (Kathy), Valhalla, NY, and Emily L. Guptill (Bruce), East Falmouth, MA. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Andrew M. Manca, Jr. (Jodi), North Kingstown, RI, Christopher L. Manca (Jennifer), Valley Cottage, NY, Daniel C. Manca (Christine), Boston, MA, Jonathan Corcoran (Cori), Hillsborough, NC, Amy Worsley (Lee), Hickory, NC, Timothy Corcoran (Stacy), Willmington, NC, Melissa Carter (Matthew) Greenville, NC, Jeffrey Corcoran, Raleigh, NC, Jennifer L. Corcoran, White Plains, NY, Matthew Corcoran, Enfield, CT, Kevin Corcoran, Albany, NY, Stephen A. Graham, Jr. (Caitlin), West Stockbridge, MA, Carrie Graham, West Stockbridge, MA, David Corcoran, Keith Corcoran, and Maureen Corcoran, Poughkeepsie, NY, Stephanie and Jaclyn Corcoran, Valhalla, NY, Meghan, John, and Sarah Guptill, East Falmouth, MA. Alma was also predeceased by her sister Gloria Hedinger Wiggin, brothers Robert and Henry Cronk. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Allison J. Graham, West Stockbridge, MA. Mrs. Corcoran is also survived by her six great grandchildren: Mason Elliot Manca, Valley Cottage, NY, Ryin, Riley, and Wilkes Corcoran, Hillsborough, NC, Jack Worsley, Hickory, NC and Brooks Carter, Greenville, NC. During World War II Mrs. Corcoran worked in window display for Bonwit Teller department store in New York City and later at Wallace Company in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Corcoran also worked successfully as Real Estate broker for the Lavery Real Estate company in Poughkeepsie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 4 to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10am at St. Martin de Porres Church on Cedar Valley Road. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
