Poughkeepsie NY - John J. Davis 70 of Poughkeepsie, died Monday October 31, 2011 at Castle Point Veterans Hospital. John has been a local resident since 1995; he previously resided in Yonkers New York. Born November 16, 1940 in the Bronx, he was the son of Patrick and Margaret O'Leary Davis. John was a graduate of D. Wood Clinton High School and served his Country in the United States Army. John was a diesel mechanic for the MABSTOA Bus Company, of New York City, retiring in 1985. He was was a member of the American Legion in Yonkers NY, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmels Church. John loved to travel, enjoyed cruising and enjoyed being with his family. John Loved his NY Yankees, liked to garden, loved Doo Wop cruises and Classic Car shows. On September 24, 1977 in the Bronx, John married Jane " Janie" Margaret Flanagan. John is survived by his wife Janie at home; son and daughter inlaw Corey and Nicole Davis of Poughkeepsie NY; two grandsons, Jaxon and Rhyder of Poughkeepsie NY and a sister Margaret Mallia of Brick Township NJ. John was also predeceased by a brother Thomas Davis. Calling hours will be held Thursday November 3, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Friday November 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel's Church Poughkeepsie New York. Burial will be at St. Peters Cemetery in Poughkeepsie New York. Memorial donations can be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society 2678 South Road Suite 102 Poughkeepsie New York 12601.
