Obituary of Ronald T Green

Ronald Talman Green, 59, lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY was taken away from his loved ones suddenly on Tuesday, September, 21st. The son of Stella and Ronald J Green, Ron was born on March 31, 1951. A kind and gentle soul Ron was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a devoted husband, proud father, loving poppy and son. He was loved by so many, especially his family. He is survived by his High school sweetheart, loving wife of 38 years and best friend, Wanda, who he wed on August 19, 1972. Also survived by his children Stephanie Henderson & husband Darrel of Claverack, Heather Green of Stamford, CT, and Ronald Christopher Green of Pleasant Valley; his grandchildren Darrel, Connor, Nicholas, and Samantha Henderson. Also surviving Ron is his beloved mother, Stella, his brothers Michael and wife Francine, Thomas & wife Lynell of California, Mark & his partner Janice Tito, and Daniel and his wife Dawn, as well as several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many loving friends that he considered extended family members. Ronald was pre-deceased by his father, Ronald J. Green. Ron was a graduate of FDR High School in 1970 and attended both Dutchess Community College and Marist College. Ron retried from IBM in April 2008 after 26 years of service in Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill as both a Department Technician and Manager. He also spent over 30 years managing his own business “RTG Professional Services, Inc.” where he devoted many years to helping his clients; many of whom became wonderful friends to him and his family. He was a hard worker and loved what he did. No one will forget the caring and giving person that he was as a boss, a “tax man”, a co-worker, colleague, and friend. He spent countless hours with his children, coaching all 3 of his children and his 2 eldest grandchildren in Little League Baseball. He was President of both the LaGrange and Town of Poughkeepsie North Little Leagues. Baseball was his passion and his greatest joy was attending games at Citi Field (forever Shea to him) with his wife, children, and grandchildren to root the Mets. Ron served in the Army reserves Medic Corp for 6 years, worked closely with the United Way of Dutchess County, The American Cancer Society, and was a 38-year member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Club and the American Legion. He served as an ASA Umpire where he continued to share his love of the game. In his free time when he wasn’t serving his clients or helping to care for his mother, wife, and children, he enjoyed spending time at Copake Lake boating and camping with family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever and always. We were blessed to have him and will miss him more than words can ever say. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 26th, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. located at 371 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, NY. Services will be held at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Chapel on Monday, September 27th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Spina Bifida Foundation of Northeastern NY at 123 Saratoga Road, Scotia, NY 12302; Shriner’s Hospital of Springfield, MA at International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607; or the United Way of Dutchess County.
