Obituary of Robert Hardy

Robert C. Hardy, 73, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a long illness. He was a computer operator for the City of Poughkeepsie. He served in the U.S. Army 1st Signal Battalion. He was a life member of the Northern Dutchess Rod & Gun Club, was a Benefactor member of the NRA, and a member of the Elks Club, BPOE #275 and the American Legion, Post #1302. Bob was a Cvil War Buff and an admirer of Yosemite Sam. Born in Yonkers, NY on April 26, 1936, he was the son of Charles R. and Gertrude R. McCoy Hardy. He attended Hastings High School. On Sept. 27, 1973 in the Town of Stanford, he married Ruth L. Barton. His wife, survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shirley J. Andrews and her husband, James of Timberlake, NC; his son, Robert C. Hardy, Jr. and his partner, Dale Bailey of Jupiter, FL; son Scott M. Hardy, and his wife Jennifer of Mooresville, NC; his stepson, Willard L. Barton of Pleasant Valley; nine grandchildren, Heather Barker and her husband, Kyle; Jessica, Ryan and Mackenzie Sherow, Jamie Andrews, Elizabeth, Zackary, Sophia and Nicholas Hardy. and two great grandchildren, Kylle and Hayden Barker, all of NC. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Main St., Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Clinton, NY.
