Obituary of Peter J. Heintz

Peter J. Heintz, 67, of the City of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. A 20 year local resident, he had previously resided in Brewster. He was employed at IBM Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1992. Mr. Heintz served in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Brewster Elks, BPOE 2101. He was also an avid Golfer and a Mets Fan. Born on Sept. 1, 1941 in New Rochelle, he was the son of Peter Heintz and Anne J. Nemeth Heintz. He was a graduate of the New High School Class of 1959 and Westchester Community College, Class of 1964. On September 9, 2004 in Poughkeepsie, he married Sandra Burgess. Mrs. Heintz survives her husband in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Heintz of Connecticut; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael P. and Alfia Heintz of Stormville; a daughter, Carolyn Butler of Patterson; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel T. and Lisa Heintz of Brewster; Son and Daughter in-law Peter J. and Lynn Heintz of Connecticut, two sisters, Gizella Doyle and Louise Garrison, both of Massachusetts; a brother, Stephen Heintz of Connecticut; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son in-law, Jack Butler. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 from 5pm to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 20,2008 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial will take place at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster.
