Obituary of Annette Keating

Annette Lee (Slone) Keating of Poughkeepsie, New York, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2010 in Mesa Arizona. She was born January 2 1922 in Alexandria, Indiana, to George Emerson Slone (Father) and Gladys (Lee) Slone (Mother). She graduated from Marion High School then attended and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Bacteriology. Her husband of 35 years, James Keating preceded her in death in June 2010. Annette an Aerographer's mate second class V-10 USNR, serving in the US Navy decoding encrypted messages by the German and Japanese Forces and was Honorably discharged August 10th 1946 at which time she married Hugh M. Brinkley, had her only child Spencer, divorced and found employment at IBM. At IBM, she was instrumental in the development of their first microchip and transistor. She went on to retire 34 years later and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Jim, playing bridge and relaxing with her many friends. She was very friendly, personable, fun-loving and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Spencer Lee Brinkley of Mesa Arizona, and grandchildren Nathan, Ian, Drew, Allison, Quinn, and Bret Brinkley. She was laided to rest next to her husband James at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on December 15th by a small gathering of friends. Local arrangements were handled by the Timothy P.
