Obituary of Gertrude Lennon

Gertrude May (Kraus) Lennon...born April30, 1917 in Wallkill, NY to Peter Martin Kraus and Jessie Kniffen Kraus. Married to Ambrose Burger in 1935, in Walden NY, Survived by her three sons and daughter in-laws, Duane A, (wife Carol) Newburgh NY, Garth C (wife Gail), Poughkeepsie NY, and Merwin W, Hyde Park NY. Married to, Vernon E Lennon in 1944. Survived by her son and daughter in-law Vernon E Jr. (wife Barbara) Woodstock Ga. Mr. Lennon predeceased her on November 14, 1987 in Poughkeepsie. Gertrude is also survived by, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, three nephews, one niece, and many grand nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband Vernon, she was also predeceased by her two Siblings Elise Owens and Peter Kraus, and her dear friend Frank Fuller. Gertrude worked for many years as a skilled seamstress; she also created many Beautifully crafted counted cross stitch wall hangings, crocheted tablecloths and Bed spreads, and other household decorative pieces. Gertrude and her husband Vernon traveled extensively, to Europe, Hawaii, most of the Contiguous United States, as well as to Alaska, Canada, Africa and most of the Caribbean islands. She also traveled extensively with her friend Frank Fuller in later years. There will be one hour of visitation on Tuesday March 8, 2011 from 10am to llam at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York. Funeral Services will follow at 11am. Burial Will take place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
