Obituary of Mable Lewis

The beautiful spirit of Mable A. Lewis, whom everyone knew as Molly or G'ma, entered into eternal peace on November 14, 2 008 after an arduous battle with Alzheimer's. Molly was born Mable A. Walton in Yonkers, NY to Beatrice and Charles Walton on March 5, 1924. She was the eldest of six, Charles (Bud), Eugene (Gene), Richard (tooker), William Dinny) and Beatrice (Pip). She was predeceased by Bud and Tooker. She married the love of her life, Roger Lewis Sr., on July 15, 1944 in Yonkers. They raised their family in Chappaqua and retired to Accord, NY. Molly leaves a legacy of three children, Ann Elizabeth Light, Roger Joseph Lewis, Jr., and Alice Elaine Kearins, their spouses, seven grandchildren, Barbara Chapman, Lynn Diaz, Greg, Erin and Tim Lewis, Michael and Steven Kearins and five great grandchildren, Maggie, Rory, Ryan and Riley Chapman and Lea Diaz. Ryan and Steven sadly passed away before she did. She spent her life spoiling her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. She was an avid golfer and loved to travel and bowl. She sang with the Sweet Adelines of Poughkeepsie. She was a devout Catholic who attended Mass daily and taught Sunday school. Before her retirement in 1984, Molly worked as a secretary at Northern Westchester Hospital Center. All who knew her will miss her smile, wit and laughing hazel eyes. Visitation will be at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, in Poughkeepsie, NY on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday at St. Martin De Porres Church in Poughkeepsie. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association to help rid the world of this dreaded disease.
