Obituary of Alvin Maybaum

Jay Maybaum, 63, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Oct. 13, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. A local resident since 1976, he had previously resided in Long Island. He was a self-employed contractor. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Temple Beth El. Born in the Bronx on Oct. 12,1946, he was the son of Isadore and Ceil Tonic Maybaum. He was a graduate of Harbor Fields High School in Huntington, Long Island. On June 22, 1968 in Long Island, he married Roseanne Arnone. His wife survives at home in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Dawn Maybaum of Highland; his daughter, Sheri Maybaum of Poughkeepsie; his brothers, Harold Maybaum of Rhode Island; Paul Maybaum of Florida; Anthony Sicilia of Staten Island; his grandchildren, Dereck and Joceilia Maybaum of Highland; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Milton Maybaum. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at 12 p.m. at Temple Beth El, Rabbi Neal Loevinger will officiate. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. The family will sit Shiva on Friday night from 2pm to 5pm at 18 Hasbrouck Avenue, Highland, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie.
