Obituary of Rudolph McDowald

Rudolph A. McDowald, age 80, the Town of Poughkeepsie died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Mr. McDowald was born December 7, 1930 in Tobago Trinidad, the son of the late Miller and the late Emelda (Sterling) McDowald. He married Esther Wolo March 15, 1975 in Liberia, she survives at home. He was employed by Bong Mining South Africa as a General Manager retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church Poughkeepsie. He loved to travel, meet new people, loved to read, enjoyed Classical music, but most of all lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Curtis and Lauran Rose of Hempstead LI, Joseph Berment and Sum McDowald Trinidad, Emelda McDowald and Rudolph Browne of Poughkeepsie and Ambrose McDowald of Liberia; Grandchildren, Chris and Candy Rose, Joseph Jr. and Kayla Berment McDowald, Faith Browne and Nelly McDowald; Great Grandchildren, Kayla, Chris, Slnaya and Alaya Rose. Rudolph was also survived by his sisters; Shirley McDonald, Julie Asevera, Celeste McDowald and Selita Sterling; Brother, Randolph McDowald and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister; Joyce and two brothers; Allen and Owen McDowald. Calling hours will be Monday December 27, 2010 from 4pm to 6pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Monday at 6pm In the Funeral Home. Burial will be at LaGrange Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie Tuesday at 2pm.
