Obituary of Joan Miller

Joan S. Miller, age 78, a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Born February 26, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Frederick and Marie (Werle) Steuer. She married Francis R. Miller March 31, 1957 at First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie. She worked at Hagan Elementary School in the Spackenkill School District for 25 years. Joan enjoyed photography and watercolor painting and also volunteered her time at Vassar and St. Francis Hospitals and the FDR Library. She is survived by her husband, Francis R. Miller of Hyde Park; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Robin Moore of Lagrange; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Wendy Miller of Centennial, CO; four grandchildren, Ryan and Shannon Moore and Christy and Kevin Miller; and sister-in-law, Ginny Van Wagenen of Poughkeepsie. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
