Obituary of Shirley Montalto

Shirley J. Montalto, 82, a lifetime resident died peacefully at home where she lived for 52 years in the Town of LaGrange on July 16, 2009. She was a Registered Nurse for Children's Medical Group in Poughkeepsie, a member of two different local Bridge Clubs and the 50+ Ladies Club, a member of Dutch Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie, enjoyed many activities with the over 50+ Ladies Club and her two Bridge Groups were always a source of enjoyment. She attended Vassar Hospital Nursing School. Born June 10, 1927, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Atwood Speedling. On December 12, 1948 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie, she married Harold Montalto who predeceased her in December 1988. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan Montalto of LaGrange, NY; daughter, Debra Ippolito of Tyler, TX; grandson, Daniel Montalto of Poughkeepsie, NY; granddaughter, Tricia Montalto of Poughkeepsie, NY; granddaughter, Vanessa Ippolito of Dallas, TX; grandson, Mark Ippolito of Tyler, TX: friend Gerry Sprague of Poughkeepsie, NY. She was predeceased by infant daughter, Karen Lee Montalto in 1949 and her grandson, Gregory Montalto in May 1990. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Make-A-Wish in honor of her grandson, Gregory Montalto. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:00am at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
