Obituary of Jean Morabito

Jean Marie Morabito, 81, of the Town of Lagrange passed peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie. A local resident her entire life, she was born in Poughkeepsie on September 21, 1928, the daughter of James and Irene Runk Hayes. Jean was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and on January 7, 1951 married John Morabito at St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie. She was a retired employee of IBM, where she worked in both Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Jean loved to cook, read and was very charitable to many people and organizations. She is survived by daughter Christine Sproat (James) of Beekman, son John Morabito (Vivian) of Fishkill, daughter Michelle Ellis (Eric) of Palm Harbor FL, son Anthony Morabito (Donna) of Rochester, daughter Irene Van Voorhis (Gary Lafko) of Poughkeepsie and son James Morabito of Lagrange. Jean helped care for and raise Teri (Gunn) Koenig of Poughkeeepsie. She is survived by four brothers, James Hayes (Barbara) of Hyde Park, John Hayes (Lucille) of Arizona, Charles Hayes (Peggy) of Virginia and Gerald Hayes (Mary) of Ballston Lake. Eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive her, as does her former husband John Morabito. Jean was predeceased by her brother Richard Hayes. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 17, at 9:45am at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, with burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
