Obituary of Doloretta Neville

Doloretta A. Neville known to many as Nanny, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at The Pines@ Poughkeepsie. She was 17 days away from her 104th birthday. Born July 22, 1907 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Bundy) Drury. On December 24, 1925 she married William R. Neville who was the love of her life. They were married 69 glorious years until his death in 1994. Dot retired from Hamilton Press and along with her husband Bill enjoyed many "Golden Years" of retirement with family and friends. They traveled cross-country and went on cruises and enjoyed time with their family. Dot was a member of the IBM Mothers Guild, The Town of Poughkeepsie Club 60 and the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son in-law, Judith and Roy VanVoorhis, grandsons, Roy Wm. VanVoorhis and Rodney S. VanVoorhis, Sr., great granddaughters, Jordan, Samantha and Mackenzie VanVoorhis and great grandson Rodney S. VanVoorhis, Jr. The family extends their appreciation to everyone at The Pines @ Poughkeepsie where Mrs. Neville has resided the past four years. A special thank you to the staff of the third floor who became her second family. A memorial service will take place at The Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, 2381 New Hackensack Road, Poughkeepsie, NY on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11am. Burial will be at the convenience of the Family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12603.
