Obituary of Barry Ollis

Barry Stephen Ollis, 65, of LaGrange, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. A local resident since 1970, he was employed as an Electrical Engineer at IBM, Poughkeepsie and worked in the Transportation Dept. for Arlington Central Schools. He retired in 1992. Mr. Ollis was a Cross Bearer and volunteer at Mt. Alvernia. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Peter's Church. He loved to work on and help people with their computers. Born in Homestead, PA on Sept. 1, 1943, he was the son of Stephen Andrew and Margaret Simon Ollis. He attended Schwab Vocational High School in Pennsylvania. On Sept. 19,1964 at Resurrection Church in West Mifflin, PA. he married Elizabeth Ann Mayni. Mrs. Ollis survives at home in LaGrange. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gerard V. Ollis of LaGrange; a sister, Geri M. Michel of Bessemer, AL, two nephews and one niece. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 5pm to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, on Fri. May 8, 2009. Father James A. Garisto will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Tpke, Poughkeepsie.
