Obituary of Caroline Panessa

Caroline L. Panessa 94 of Poughkeepsie died at home Saturday May 14, 2011. Born in Poughkeepsie March 9, 1917, she was the daughter of Joseph and Maria Contursi. On April 7, 1940 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church she married Anthony Panessa. Anthony predeceased Caroline September 16, 1976. Caroline was a life long local resident of Poughkeepsie, a homemaker and member of the Italian Center. Caroline loved to cook and travel to the casinos. Caroline is survived by her daughter and son in-law; Grace M. and Chester Walters of Wappingers Falls, New York; son and daughter In-law Joseph T. and Jodene Panessa of Poughkeepsie, New York; grandchildren Noelle Cardello of CT, Anthony, Nicholis and Danielle Panessa of Poughkeepsie and her sister and brother in-law Rose and Leonard Kardas of Poughkeepsie. Caroline was predeceased by her son, Donald Panessa in 2001 and her sister and three brothers; Margaret, Thomas, Steven and Louis Conturi. Calling hours will be held Tuesday May 17, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Poughkeepsie, New York.
